Tragedy in Pakistan: School Bus Attacked in Balochistan

On January 26, 2025, a tragic incident occurred in Pakistan’s Balochistan province. A passenger bus traveling from Khuzdar to Rawalpindi was targeted by a roadside bomb near the Khori area, approximately 25 kilometers from Khuzdar city. The explosion resulted in the death of one person and injuries to seven others, including the bus conductor who was reported to be in critical condition.

Investigations revealed that the blast was caused by an improvised explosive device (IED) planted in a stationary vehicle parked along the M-8 Motorway. As the bus passed by, the explosives were detonated, causing significant damage to the bus and injuring several passengers. Security forces, including police, Frontier Corps, and Levies, promptly arrived at the scene, cordoned off the area, and initiated a thorough investigation.

This attack is part of a series of violent incidents in Balochistan, a region that has witnessed a surge in militant activities in recent months. Earlier in January, a similar blast in Turbat claimed four lives and injured 32 others. While no group has claimed responsibility for the Khuzdar attack, the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) has been known to carry out such attacks in the region.

The government has condemned the attack and emphasized its commitment to combating terrorism in all forms. Efforts are underway to enhance security measures and prevent such incidents in the future.
